LEADING Welsh bus operator NAT Group has announced an extension to its X1 and X8 bus routes in Cardiff which will now run until 23 o clock.

The additional services will be welcomed by later commuters and those enjoying the city’s nightlife.

The X1 service runs from one side of Cardiff to the other, beginning at Culverhouse Cross Tesco, continuing via Ely, Canton, City Centre, Albany Road, Llanedeyrn, Pentwyn and Pontprennau, while the X8 runs from Cardiff Bay to Thornhill via Bute Street, Westgate Street, Caerphilly Road and Templeton Avenue.

NAT Group Managing Director Adam Keen said: “Ensuring our great city stays connected and that our passengers can get to where they need to be when they need to be there, is what the NAT Group is all about. We analysed our current services, and although they are extensive, we felt we could provide more for those wanting to travel later at night.

“We are sure our current passengers will appreciate the additional journeys and new passengers will be able to make use of the new services also.”

The extended bus routes from NAT follow the company’s simplification of fare structure whereby a simple ‘zonal’ fares system now operates. Passengers can purchase a short hop ticket, which includes three consecutive stops, for just £1.20. Both the X1 and X8 services accept contactless payment.
